Who nose the difference?
Guardian readers eager to see how their newspaper rated the new TV version of Daphne du Maurier's "Rebecca" must have been intrigued by a reference to "Charles Glass" playing "the mysterious Max de Winter". Max de Winter was played by the blonde-haired, straight-nosed English actor Charles Dance. He is not to be confused with the dark-haired journalist and former Lebanese hostage Charles Glass, an American whose nose has been broken on six occasions. Glass, holed up in Italy finishing a novel, was thrilled to read himself described as "beefcake". "How nice," he muses. "Maybe I'll get an Academy Award." While Charles Dance wins the Pulitzer, presumably.
